The Intersection Podcast Episode at the Intersection of Fall 2024

🎙️Yesterday, I was invited to the Intersection podcast hosted by my new soul sister, Zhou Fang.

We discussed

  • Creativity 👩‍🎨,
  • Mental health 🧘🏼‍♀️
  • Self-identification🙎‍♀️
  • Challenges of raising kids at the intersection of the American and Ukrainian heritages 🇺🇸🇺🇦🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒
  • Making friends online and keeping them for good 👯‍♀️
  • Communication barriers across languages and cultures 🚫, and what not.

💬As an interviewer, Zhou has a rare gift of going with the flow and letting conversation build up naturally: no pre-approved list of questions or certain expectations from her guests.

⏳Time flew by, and I almost didn’t get nervous (maybe just once, when talking about the war in Ukraine).

👂Reflecting on this experience, I have realized how vital it is to meet someone who cares about the same topics you find important and who is willing to listen to your thoughts and opinions.

It’s an invaluable gift in the world of drive-through answers to the 5-star Michelin questions and superficial interactions.

🫂The biggest joy in life is knowing that our world still has a chance to become a better place, as long as we meet our soul siblings and hold onto each other in the time of need, amidst the whirlpool of chaos and uncertainty we are living in.

Zhou, thank you for your support and your “take care” at the end, which sounded like you really meant it.

Kindness never goes out of style, nor do deep conversations.
