Self identification is a key that opens the door to a fulfilling life.
I am
✔️a woman,
✔️a daughter,
✔️a granddaughter,
✔️a mother,
✔️a wife,
✔️a Ukrainian,
✔️an immigrant,
✔️a WRITER
In the senior year of high school, our English teacher gave us homework. Students had to write an essay on “Who I want to be when I graduate” topic.
I remember that I put an illustration of a sign pointing in three directions on the front page:
✅ Interpreter,
✅ Lawyer,
✅ Journalist
I liked all of these professional fields. The choice was hard for an 18-year-old me. And I was torn apart, not sure which road to take.
A lot of time has passed since then.
I have worked as an interpreter, a translator, a proofreader, a tutor, an account manager, a project coordinator, a contributing writer, an interviewer, and a ghostwriter.
It’s too late to become a lawyer, although I am a language access advocate, so partially can relate to fighting the injustice and protecting the marginalized communities.
My biggest accomplishment of the year 2024 is that I stopped looking for excuses of why my dreams can’t come true, and let them direct my life.
Project management is a great career path. I gained a lot of knowledge on how to organize workflows and complete deliverables.
And I am still perusing yet another certification.
Nevertheless, it was the choice of my head.
While writing has always been the choice of my heart.

Research has shown that “listening to your head may lead to more tangible success, but not following your heart increases the risk of regret”.
Today, I follow my heart.
No regrets.
